Every safety boot and shoe certified to EN ISO 20345 has a toecap tested against a 200 joule impact and a 15 kN compression load. Those tests are the same for a non-metallic toecap as for steel. Under the 2022 edition of EN ISO 20345 a final S (as in S1PS, S3S or S7S) means the penetration resistant insert is non-metallic and tested with a 3 mm nail.
