S3 safety shoes and trainers
We list 210 S3 safety shoes and trainers from 21 brands, including Base Protection, Safety Jogger and Portwest, priced from £16.99 exc. VAT. Every one can be bought online.
S3 is a rating, not a style. A shoe or trainer marked S3 meets the same EN ISO 20345 requirements as an S3 boot: a 200 joule toecap, a closed heel, anti-static properties, energy absorption in the heel, an upper that resists water penetration and absorption, a penetration resistant midsole and a cleated outsole. Under the 2022 edition of EN ISO 20345 a final S (as in S1PS, S3S or S7S) means the penetration resistant insert is non-metallic and tested with a 3 mm nail.
S3 safety shoes and trainers

Questions, answered
Can a safety trainer be S3?
Yes. The rating depends on what the footwear has been tested for, not on its style. A trainer marked S3 meets the same EN ISO 20345 requirements as an S3 boot.
What is the difference between S3 and S3S?
Both are S3. Under the 2022 edition of EN ISO 20345 a final S (as in S1PS, S3S or S7S) means the penetration resistant insert is non-metallic and tested with a 3 mm nail.
What is the difference between S1P and S3 shoes?
Both have a toecap and a penetration resistant midsole. S3 adds an upper that resists water penetration and absorption, and a cleated outsole.
